Using Automatic Backup Software: A Warning
If you use software that automatically backs up changed files on your computer, do not use it with the Health-Minder database files found in the "base" directory of your Health-Minder installation.
For example, if you have installed Health-Minder in "c:\hminder", the database files are found in "c:\hminder.base". Do not allow such programs as DataKeeper to back up these files because if Health-Minder is in the midst of saving or retrieving data when the back up occurs, data can be lost or damaged and Health-Minder may crash when you try to access this damaged data.
Protecting Health-Minder Database Files: Use the option on the Health-Minder FILE menu called "BACKUP". This will copy your database files to the directory c:\hminder\backup (if you have installed Health-Minder on drive c). If your version of Health-Minder does not have this feature, be sure to download the most recent version from http://www.health-minder.com/download.htm .
If you have already registered your copy of Health-Minder, you may download all new versions at no extra cost. Installing the new version will not over-write your database files, whether or not you have registered Health-Minder. To protect yourself from data loss in the case of a computer failure, copy the files from c:\hminder\base, one at a time, to a floppy disk or other media every time you make a lot of entries to Health-Minder.
