"How do I use Health-Minder medical cost data to compute medical expense  tax deductions?"

Answer:

1. First of all, use SETUP|Options and set Today's date to be the last day of the year in question, and the Budget End of Year to be the same date.  For example, to compute medical cost totals for the year 2000, set Today's Date and Budget End of Year to be "12/31/2000".
   
2. Next, go to the DIARY|Costs screen.  In the lower left hand box you will see the total expenditures for your family, minus any refunds.  The lower right hand box shows these totals broken down into medical expense category.  If you had Veterinary expenses, these will have to be subtracted from the total for tax purposes.   
   
3. You can print these expenses listed by category by pushing the Report button and using the Starting Date of 1/1/2000 and the Ending Date of 12/31/2000.
   
4. Don't forget to use SETUP|Options to reset Today's Date and Budget End of Year again before you exit Health-Minder.
