| After installing Health-Minder, copy all the files to
diskettes or other backup media (tapes, zip or jaz drive, etc). When you do this, be
sure to also backup the subdirectories: base and dict. |
| After entering information in Health-Minder,
use FILE|Backup menu option frequently. This command copies the
database files in the subdirectory base to a subdirectory
called backup. Do this as often as you enter new
information to protect yourself from losses due to computer malfunctions. To
protect your self further, copy the files from base to diskettes. If you
ever need to re-install Health-Minder, restore the files from the base
subdirectory to recover all you have saved. The files in the directory base
are named objects.dat and objects.idx.
Everything you enter into Health-Minder is stored in these two files. |

| How many family members can
Health-Minder store? |
| There is no limit to the number of people and pets you
can store in Health-Minder, but as you put more entries in the database, it will
grow. As long as you have disk space on your computer to hold the growing database,
you may keep entering as many people, pets, doctors, prescriptions, test results, and
diary entries as you need to. If you ever do need to reduce the size of the
database, you can use Health-Minder to delete older, less important items. See the
on-line Help for how to do this. |

| Many families keep a an annual family budget,
which usually ends on December 31. Users of Health-Minder who enter costs associated
with each medical care event, such as an x-ray or trip to the dentist, can view the costs
of medical care for the family, or for each individual during any budget year. This
can be quite helpful in filling out tax forms if you take medical deductions, because you
can see, by type of care, exactly how much was spent and reimbursed by insurance for any
year. |
| The policy year may be different from the budget
year, because it is usually based on when you enrolled in the plan. Many plans have
anniversary dates when they may change your premiums or other details of your plan.
You can keep each of these policy years' details in the Health-Minder database. This
is necessary if you have a dispute with a claim about what was covered, or what was
submitted and reimbursed in a given policy year. |

| Yes. When you add a new family member,
Health-Minder requires you to enter the member's birthdate using four digits for the year
(ie, "1901" or "2001"). After that, whenever you enter a health
care event for that family member, such as a vaccination or a pregnancy, Health-Minder
uses the birth date as a reference date to check the validity of the dates you enter. |
