What's New in Health-Minder Version 2.43 and 2.45?
|
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.2 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
|
BUG FIXES
|
 | Expanded category for Prescription Health Care Providers. In the
Prescription Window, more types of Health Care Providers are listed. |
|
 | Bug fix for list of Pets. In some cases, not all pet names were
showing up in the Reminders list or in the Medical Costs list of
individuals. This problem has been fixed. |
|
 | Pet Health Insurance: problems in deleting and/or retrieving a
pet policy have been fixed. |
|
 | Addition to Test Printing:
For those test results with several parts, the name of the part is now added to the result value so that it will print out in medical history reports. For example, if the test is a Blood Count (CBC), the data entry form's 5 result boxes will show:
%(HCT), gm/dl(HGB), mil/cu mm(RBC), /cu mm(WBC), /cu mm(Platelets)
You will type in a value at the front of each of the labels for which you have results, and store. The medical history report will then print the full text so that it is clear what the entered values refer to.
Test results entered prior to version 2.44 will NOT be automatically
updated with this feature. If you have entered these values in prior versions of Health-Minder and wish to use this change, you will need to replace the prior test item with a new one (delete old, add new) and re-enter the values for this change to take place. Test results with only one value are unambiguous and do not need to be re-entered.

What's New in Health-Minder Version 2.3 to 2.42?
|
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.2 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
|
New Features
|
 | When you use the DIARY|Costs feature, you can now print medical
expense summaries for an individual person or pet as well as for the
entire family. |
 | When entering payment information, you can now "post-date"
checks, that is you can enter th date of your payment up to 14 days
into the future. |
|
BUG FIXES
|
 | In the Prescription, Hospital, Hospice and home care windows, the
list display sometimes showed the provider of care, sometimes the
doctor who prescribed the care. In version 2.42 this was changed to
consistently display the provider of care. The medical history has
always shown both in reports, and continues to do so. |
 | In some circumstances, a cost item was not completely deleted. This
occurred when the cost item being deleted was the only cost item for a
family member. FIXED in version 2.42. |
 | The notepad problem partially resolved in version 2.36 needed more work. If you make used of the NotePad feature, it is very worth your while to download and install this new
version, v2.39. |
 | The express update button for Office Visits in the Emergency Care window has been enabled. |
 | Date handling for parent's birthdate before 1900 incorrectly
rejected. |
 | Costs Window failed to close when called from Pet Vaccine Window.
Fixed. |
 | Notepad text was lost if you edited a previously entered health care event and also edited the Cost/Claim information.
Fixed. |
 | When you have a mammogram, you may enter the test name as "mammogram" or "mammography" and Health-Minder will print the most recent date of this type of test. Health-Minder was not showing the most recent mammogram in the Women's Health window or report if you had named the test "mammography". |
 | The report from the Women's Health window was not printing all the information it is supposed to print. This has been fixed. |
 | Medications reports and Medical History reports, when printing medications, will also print reactions to them. This feature had worked in prior versions but had been "broken". It is now fixed again. |
 | Reports showing Prescriptions will show whether or not the prescription may be filled with the generic form of the medication. |
 | Clarification:The test name "breast exam" has been added to the TEST category "MISCELLANEOUS". In order for the Women's Health report to show the most recent breast examination given by your doctor, please enter the test name as "breast exam". This is a physical examination, not the mammogram. |
 | NEW FEATURE: Version 2.35 and newer
You can now mark selected medications as "inactive" in the Medications History Window. Inactive medications may still be edited, but they will not appear when you enter NEW prescriptions nor when you print reports. This feature has been added for use by people who have taken a lot of different medications in the past, but wish to include only their current medications in reports they take to their health care providers. Exercise caution in using this feature since it may be important for your doctor to know whether you have ever taken a certain medication. If you have any doubt about this, do not check the "Mark As Inactive" box for a medication. You may also uncheck this box to restore a medication to the active state. |
 | If you omitted entering a date or health care provider for a
Symptom, Health-Minder crashed while trying to display an error
message. This has been fixed. If you have an earlier version of
Health-Minder, the work-around is to enter date and select a health
care provider. |
 | Test names containing colons, such as "Mineral:calcium", were incorrectly displayed in the list of tests, putting text after the colon into the health care provider column. This did not affect the storage of the data, just its display. |
 | Rounding error in converting child's weight from pounds to kilograms. This could slightly affect the percentage value when calculating the comparison between the weight and that for other children of same age and gender. |
 | Chiropractors and Osteopaths did not appear in list of health care providers
for office visits and checkups. This problem has been fixed. |
 | Cost data for Adult Vaccinations may now be entered without causing
a program crash. And you may delete vaccinations which came with the
Health-Minder database. What happens is that the vaccine name remains
on the list, but the data you have entered for it is deleted. |
 | Head circumference data for infants between the ages of 37 and 60
months may now be entered and stored in the Health-Minder
database. |
 |
Pressing
the IN PLAN option on the Insurance Claim Status window resulted in a
flashing display of data. And on exit from the program, Health-Minder
gave an error message. These problems have been fixed. |
 |
Diary|Cost
reports were giving family summary details, but not individual data.
The Rich Text Format version was incomplete. Fixed. |
|
What's New in Health-Minder Version 2.2?
|
This version is a minor revision to Version 2.1 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
|
New Features in Version 2.2
|
 | In the TESTS window, you may now also sort the list of tests by TEST NAME, and print a report from the TESTS window in the same order. This is to facilitate viewing the results of the same test which has been repeated over time. When sorting by test name, tests of the same name will then be sorted with the most recent date first.
The display now also shows the name of the health care provider. |
|
BUG FIXES
|
 | Entering a new TEST from a Checkup window, instead of the TEST window, made changing the values of the test impossible. This has been fixed. |
|
 | Deleting a Checkup sometimes caused a program crash. This has been fixed. |
|
 | For Pet Checkups, adding a new vet in the Checkup window worked fine. But if you then pressed the TESTS button from the Pet Checkup window, and added a new test, the newly entered vet name did not appear. This has been fixed. |
|
 | More checking on values entered in the Measurement Diary to be sure users don't enter fractions (such as 1/2) instead of decimal values (such as .5).
|
|
|
What's New in Version 2.1?
|
This version is a minor revision to Version 2 and all users should replace older versions of Health-Minder with this release.
|
BUG FIXES
|
 | Deleting a reminder caused a program crash.
|
|
 | When printing reports, notes you have entered on the Notepad for an office vist for an illness or injury are now included in the report printed from the Office Visit for Illness and Injury window, but not in the medical history SUMMARY report (for reasons of conciseness). The same is true for reports about Hospital care, Tests, and Treatments. |

What's New in Health-Minder Version 2?
NEW FEATURES:
All new child growth statistics released by the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics in
June 2000. This new data has been incorporated into Health-Minder, and new
tools have been built to assist parents in monitoring child growth
patterns:
 | The Growth and Development Window (LIFESTYLE|Growth and Development|Infant
or Child/Teen) now enables you to store Head Circumference measurements
for children up to age 5. Furthermore, you can calculate the percentiles for Height for Age, Weight for Age, Weight for Height, BMI, and Head Circumference and compare the child's measurements with other US children of same age and gender. Use the HELP button for a full explanation. |
 | The Head Circumference graph, accessible from the Growth and Development Window, now plots the data you have entered for a child's head circumference. Data is plotted in centimeters, between birth and 24 months, although you may enter head circumference data upto the age of 5 (60 months) and calculate its percentile ranking. |
 | The Growth Velocity Window now shows the change in growth in either metric or non-metric values. If you access this window from the Growth and Development Window, you may also print a Report of the change in height and weight for each six month interval for the child whose data you have entered. Compare these changes in growth to the values in the appropriate table for the child's gender and age in months. |
 | New Window: BMI for Child. Type in age, height, gender, and weight and calculate the Body Mass Index for a child between the ages of 2 to 20 years. Learn how to interpret the BMI from its Percentile value, comparing a child's BMI with others of same age and gender. |
 | Family member name list is now sorted into alphabetical order. If you have only a few family members, this hardly matters. But if you have many names, enter them as "Last name, First name" to see the names sorted by Last name. |
BUG FIXES:
 | Program crashed if you entered zero for the amount in a Rejected item when entering Cost/Claim information for a health care event.
This has been repaired. However, the idea here is to enter the amount rejected, not zero. For example, if you submit a claim for 100 dollars and receive a refund of 20 dollars, the rejected amount would be 80 dollars. |
 | Bug in redisplaying a list of items following the deleting of the last item
on a list has been fixed. The redisplay problem affected list of Reminders, Medications, Providers, and Diagnoses. |
 | Improved formatting of Medical History Summary Report. Suggestions for this are always welcome. |

The following are excerpts of release notes from prior versions.
New Features in Version 1.22:
 | Growth and Development data entry window enlarged to make entering
child's height easier. |
 | Rich Text Format option for Family Medical Expenses reports have
been improved. |
 | Bug fix to properly handle poorly formatted date entry in payment
portion of Cost Dialog window. |
 | Test section in Medical History Summary reports will now print out
results for tests which have been listed with no diagnosis. |
New Features in Version 1.21:
 | Bug fix to LIFESTYLE|Summary|Diet window. If the percentages of carbohydrates, fat, and
protein do not total 100%, you see the error message as before, but Health-Minder no
longer fails after displaying the error. |
New Features in Version 1.2:
 | Some Health-Minder windows now have an additional option to sort the list by provider
name or by date. The windows with this added feature are all found under the
Medical Care
Menu, and include: |
Emergency, Hospice and Home Health Care, Hospital, Tests, Treatments, and under the
Medical Care|Office Visits menu these: Checkups, Dental, Illness or Injury.
 | In addition, a few of these windows have also been given a REPORT
button so that you may print a report ordered by date or by provider, and you may also
select just one provider to print. So, if you want to print out all Office Visits to a
specific provider, you can. |
 | To help you answer the question: "What do I owe Dr. So-and-So?": The
Medical Costs Summary Window list has a new column: Balance. The amount
shown under "Balance" is the amount remaining UNPAID for each health care event.
It is computed as the FEE minus what you have paid and minus any amount paid by your
insurance to the provider. This amount has always been available when you double-click on
the event to bring up the record of payments, refunds, and balance for that event. But the
new column makes it easier to scan all items at a glance. |
 | When you print a report from the Medical Costs Summary Window, you may now select a
specific provider. The report will show the FEE for each medical care event, any payments
or refunds credited to that event. The total for each type of care, say Checkups, for
example, continues to be your out of pocket expenses for all Checkups, not just the ones
to that provider. Your out of pocket expenses are computed by the amounts you have paid
minus any refunds to you. The report does not show the balance for each care event, but
that may be seen in the new column in the list. |
New Tables and Graphs:
 | In the LIFESTYLE|Growth and Development Window, you will find two new buttons. One is Infant
Head Circumference which is used to display a graph of measurements in
centimeters of infant head circumferences. The HELP button will tell you how to take this
measurement and what it means. Be sure to press the HELP button on the Growth and
Development Window to read the new section "Reliability of Growth Charts". |
 | The second new button on the Growth and Development Window is the Growth
Velocity button. Pressing this button will give you a screen where you may select
which age group you wish to see. The term "growth velocity" refers to the rate
of change in weight and length/height over a given time period. In essence, it helps
parents find out if their child is growing at a normal rate. |
Bug Fixes:
 | A few people had problems with printing a report to a printer. When trying to print, a
system error message appeared. Hopefully, that problem has been resolved. For Windows
95/98/NT, Health-Minder installation now includes the printing utility TxtPrint which will
print and produce reports in a nice format. To learn more, use the HELP for Reports. The
options for TxtPrint formats may be changed from the menu item SETUP|Options or by running
the TxtPrint program itself. Our thanks to Örjan Råberg (Internet home page is: http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~d4orjan/TxtPrint/index.html)
for this fine software utility. |
 | To edit the information about a health care provider, you needed to have first selected
a family member's name. This is no longer required. |
 | If you entered an Illness as recurring, reports sometimes failed to print it correctly.
That has been corrected. |
 | If you selected Printer or Screen on a report specification dialog, then un-marked
either of these, the turn-off wasn't remembered and you got the SCREEN or PRINTER anyway.
That has been fixed. |
